Hello CHS Students:
Solve this problem of the week by Monday, September 19, 2011, and you will be entered in a raffle drawing to win a free Showcase Providence Place movie ticket. In addition to that, you will be practicing for your NECAP State Test at the beginning of October of your Junior year. 9th graders, start studying for your State Test NOW! 10th Graders, you have only 12 months to learn all the Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics that you need to know to pass the NECAP. 11th Graders, you need to do as many problems as possible EVERY DAY from the released items from last year and this year if you hope to be proficient on the State Test.
In the fall of 2010, 47% of CHS students passed the NECAP Math Test with a "3" and only 2% got a "4". 51% of CHS student did NOT pass the test. Are you going to be in the 49% who passed, or in the 51% who did not pass? It's entirely up to you to decide if you will study for the test and prove that you are meeting state standards as an educated person after the 10th grade. It's an honor for you and an honor for CHS for every student who passes the NECAPs. It's not too late to work really hard and KNOW these problems and you could PASS! Do these problems every day throughout the week from now until next October, and that will be helpful to you. Your math teachers also have dozens more problems to work on to become proficient in math and ready for college, SATs, etc. If you build up your skills and become proficient on the NECAP Math Test, then you will also get a higher score on the SATs for college entrance.
Here are the released items from the 2010, 2009, 2008, and 2007 Math NECAPs for you to download, print out and study from -
